Sweater Days

sweater
I finished this sweater a few weeks back.  My very first adult sweater.  It’s a little bit too big though.  In the shoulder area.  So I’m thinking I might make another one, but shave off about 20 inches or so, and see if that will work.

Hope everybody out there is doing well.

Don’t Worry

dontworry
I live in a place that I hate.  I wish desperately that I had never moved here.  I can’t wait to get out, and I hope after leaving I never see this lady that I am renting from ever again.  With all that being said, you might ask, “Why don’t you move”?  I believe God wants me to wait.  Frustrating, yes!  Hard, kind of.  I’ve been a Christian for about nine years now, and I have come to trust the Lord.  I didn’t say that I liked everything that I believe He has told me.  And honestly, I don’t want to wait, but I believe that’s what God wants me to do.  Obeying God, no matter how I really feel about it, usually turns out for the best.

In other news, the baby things I have been crocheting aren’t done.  I made the hat and the sweater too small.  I don’t know what I was thinking, the instructions called for a size “G” hook, and I used a size “C”.  I don’t know why I didn’t realize this makes a big difference.  *Sigh*  I’m working on a hat at the moment, and hope I can whip up some baby minutes by Saturday and finish the hat tonight.  I’ll try and post pictures when I can, just so gosh darn busy.

Have a blessed week everybody!  Don’t forget Jesus Loves you and don’t worry!

Merry Christmas And Crochet Cluster Beanie

IMG_20121211_151848
I’ll be busy for a while with this one pound of yarn.
blue cluster beanie3
This is what I have made with the yarn so far.  I’m thinking maybe I can knit a scarf to go with it, and then maybe crochet some fingerless gloves.  I crocheted some gloves before, but I had messed up on them, so I never finished the second pair.  They didn’t turn out exactly like what the directions called for, but hopefully I will do better this second time around.

By the way, Merry Christmas everybody.  I hope all of you have a blessed Christmas and New Year

All That Glitters Ain’t Gold

IMG_20121207_141145
So I bought this thread at Michael’s a few weeks back.  Thinking that I can use this to add some sparkle and glitter to my yarn.  Oh my goodness, what a headache, honestly.  I’m not writing this to put down this particular product, just maybe as I type this and somebody reads this, maybe you can tell me what I’m doing wrong.  This thread is so hard to work with, as far as adding it into my crocheting.  If anybody has any ideas on ways to help me that would be great.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really like the color of this thread and the way it sparkles, and I will be posting again to show what I had used some of this thread for, so you can see my work.  But my goodness, this is hard to work with.
Any suggestions and other ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks!
Crochet: Backpack
This is what has come of my backpack so far.  It’s not really shaping up as I thought.  I probably didn’t need to use two skeins of yarn at the same time.  Using one would have been okay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m actually a little bit farther than the pictures.  I’ve already decreased at the top, and also made the part where the drawstring of this bag will be.  Now I’m just doing one row of 2 single crochets, and then I will bind off.  And then make my tie and then add it to the bag as a drawstring.  Hope that made sense.

Crochet: Backpack

IMG_20120825_171724

IMG_20120825_172330

I’m excited to try to crochet a backpack. Don’t know what I’m doing, (as usual), but I have this hobo bag (It’s the purple bag below the skeins of yarn), that I had crochet a while ago. Of course I got it from Teresa. I think I am going to modify this pattern though, in making my backpack. I’m going to use all 5 of these yarns at the same time and then I think I might keep crocheting a bit longer than where my hobo bag pattern had to stop.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There’s also this small pouch purse that I had also made a while ago, and there’s a point in making the pouch where you can make it so that you can slip some corded yarn through it, and then you can close it. Like a drawstring. Of course this small pouch pattern also comes from Teresa.
I had a backpack, a cheap thing that I bought from the Dollar Store, but it only lasted about a week. I guess that’s what I get for trying to save money. But I really need something to put my things in when I go out exercising (walking for two hours), since I’m gaining weight.
Sad smile
This is one of the things I love about crocheting and knitting. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s just so neat. If I need or want something, I can just grab some yarn and start working. How cool is that.
Open-mouthed smile
Crochet: Baby Sweater
These pictures are kind of backwards. The one at the bottom is supposed to be at the top. That's how the baby sweater started out. I like this pattern alot. It starts from the shoulder and neckline and works it's way down. I would like to take this pattern one day and try and make a sweater for myself. I think I could do it.
And of course, I didn't finish the sweater in time, but the mom of the baby really liked it. I was surprised though, when I put it up against the baby, it was too big. The baby was only 2 weeks old, so maybe I didn't gauge it right. Oh well. Good thing a baby can grow into stuff.
(Oh and I did get that tangled yarn at the top free. It took some time though, but I was finally able to work through it).
Crochet: Newborn Baby Set
Just an update to say that I did finish the hat and the baby booties. She liked them and said they looked professional. I had made a mistake on the hat and I knew she saw it, but thank goodness family can overlook stuff like that.
Whew!
But now I'm on to a baby sweater. Let's hope that goes just as good.
(By the way, sorry no picture of the booties, I think I was just so happy they were done on time, I had forgot. I'll try and do better with the sweater).
Crochet Newborn Baby Hat
Baby hat finished. I've still got the mary jane booties to finish. I don't know why I always wait to the last minute to finish stuff.
:(
Saturday, March 17, 2012
I took these pictures at night, so I don't think they came out well, but I'm making a newborn baby hat and booties, for my younger cousin. She's having her first baby in July, so I wanted to make something for her, for her baby shower that's coming up. The hat is almost done, I've just got to work on the shoes. I'm kind of stuck on one point, but hopefully I'll figure it out all by the time of the baby shower, which is in a couple of weeks.
Orange Slouchy Beret With Rose Flower
I hate to brag but I seem to get better and better with every item that I make. I especially liked the rose on the side.
I'm going to add this hat to my etsy shop, so I tried to take lots of pictures. Especially ones where the hat is outside.
Crochet: Fingerless Gloves
I made this. I'm still surprised. The only thing is when I crochet this, I seem to have more stitches on it, than the video said you are supposed to have. When I connected new yarn to the cuff to start working on the palm of the glove, somehow I messed up, and added more stitches than what I was supposed to. But either way, you can pretty much tell what this is, right? (I mean if I hadn't of written it in the title and labeled it, right?)
I just have to finish the fingers part, and I'm all done. :D
Crochet: Finished Hobo Bag
Finished. Finally. This hobo bag is alot bigger than the ones I have made for myself. I used three strands of yarn at one time to make this.
The lining didn't come out exactly as I wanted, but better than I expected. I just wasn't sure how you make the lining where the thread doesn't show, but I have no clue how you do that, so unfortunately, the thread is showing, but at least only on the inside.
This purse that I made, I know the person will wear it. And I'm glad, but I'm going to be more discerning to the people I make stuff for. For whatever reason, some people think knitted or crochet items just aren't worth alot.
Go figure!
Crocheting: Lining
here's what I have. I folded the fabric, and then pinned it so it wouldn't come loose as I'm sewing.
this part of the bag is going to be tricky, but I think I can do it. I'm glad this purse is almost done. I didn't think I'd ever finish it. It seemed to take centuries, which it probably was just about 3 months, but still, it's a long time. I give myself another week, only because the weekends are going to be very busy for me, and then you never know what may come up after that.
Knitting/Crochet Goals
Here are some things I would like to do this new year:
1. make some socks
2. make a sweater
3. make a ruffle scarf
4. make a skirt suit
Just some goals I suppose you could say.
The socks and the sweater seem like the harder ones, but I'm hoping I can start soon after I finish all my other projects for other people
Crochet: Hat With A Pom Pom
Finished just in time.
And then I added a pom pom to kind of finish it off. The pom pom wasn't perfect, but it wasn't as easy to make as it looked.
Anyway, I'm on my way to Joann's tomorrow..I got a gift card for $20. I could spend that and then some at a yarn store, but I'm thankful for what I got.
My next project is a big pink hobo bag, and a scarf to match.
Thank You Robin!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Robin!
Because of one of the needles you gave me, I was able to make this. It's a hobo bag, with me using three different yarns.
Crochet: Purple Hobo Bag
I made this purple and lavender hobo bag. In the picture, that lighter yarn is actually a lavender color, but it looks white, but it's not.
I put these two yarns together, since I had done this once before using a white yarn, and it came out so small. This one is a perfect fit for me.
I took two different pictures of the same bag, so you could see the color of it.
Surprisingly simple! Thanks Teresa!
I found this pattern on her youtube channel:
Crochet: One More Granny Square Purse Finished
So I finished this purse a while ago, but anyway, this is the last one. I don't know how many times I have had to re-do the handles on this purse. At least three times, and this last time, the handles still aren't right but I'm not doing it again.
I first made the handles too long, then the second time was either still too long or short, I forget, and this last time, is too short. But I'm not doing it again, I'm just going to keep putting stuff in the bag and hoping that the handles start to stretch and get longer on it's own.
