Crochet: One More Granny Square Purse Finished

So I finished this purse a while ago, but anyway, this is the last one. I don't know how many times I have had to re-do the handles on this purse. At least three times, and this last time, the handles still aren't right but I'm not doing it again.

I first made the handles too long, then the second time was either still too long or short, I forget, and this last time, is too short. But I'm not doing it again, I'm just going to keep putting stuff in the bag and hoping that the handles start to stretch and get longer on it's own.

Crochet: One More Granny Square Purse And This Is The Last One For Sure

I really like this color alot. It's like a nice burgundy. Maybe next time I take pictures, I will do it on a background that doesn't have so many patterns.
Anyway, I'm making one more granny square purse. This time for sure is the last one. The pink one is too big for me. This is for sure the last one. Anyway, I need at least 27 squares for the main part of the purse. I've got 21 so far. If I do two more tonight, and the next 4 after that, everything after that is going to go fast. The sides of the purse and the handles, it will be like going down hill in a street car. Easy!

Crochet: Pink Granny Square Purse Finished

I finished it. I added handles. I just need to add a liner. I wanted to add a rose to it. And that's about it, I think. Oh, and I want to make a matching coin pouch/purse for it. I think the next time I make myself one though, I am going to make it taller, and not so wide.

Crochet: Pink Granny Square Purse

I'm making another granny square purse. The first one that I made, as I am using it, I realize it's a little bit too small. Also, the wood handles are nice but they are starting to hurt my shoulder...so hence, here is another purse.
These pictures are kind of old. I'm actually finished sewing and attaching all the squares, I just want to make a liner for the inside, tuck in all the ends, and make some handles, and I will be done. My head is swimming with all the projects I want to do with this yarn. I'm looking for some flea market type things where I could go and sell the items that I make...but I haven't found much as of late. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Anyway, I should be posting the final pics of my second granny square purse soon.

Crochet: Granny Square Purse Tote Bag Finished

So, here's how I added the handles to the purse. I think I might change it though. Sometime in the future. The handles hurt when I put this over my shoulder.

Crochet: Granny Square Purse Tote Bag Help Again

Hey Cat..and anybody else who might be able to help me. These are the handles I was thinking of adding to the bag. And also, I want to add a zipper. So I'm wondering, should I add the zipper first and then the handles or does it just not matter?

And another thing is, maybe it would be better to make handles out of yarn instead of using these wooden handles. Any help on this would be much appreciated again. Thanks!

Crochet: Granny Square Purse Tote Bag Help

So here's the bag. This is a side view.

This is the bag flat on one side. There's three squares at the base, and three on the sides, and six squares on the other side.

And here's the inside. I kind of made some mistakes, though. But it's all good. They're good learning mistakes for the next time I want to make a granny square purse. Like one thing I learned is that you should pay attention to how you are connecting the squares. If I was paying attention, I wouldn't have some of the squares puckering on the outside..if you know what I mean.

Anyway, I need some help. Can anybody tell me how I can add handles to this? It would be much appreciated.

Crochet: Granny Square Tote Bag Purse Part 5 of 6

So here's the first two squares that I attached. There were two methods that I found. I'm sure that there are more than those two, but one of them, you can just sew them together. You have the two squares facing each other, and then just start sewing, using a darning needle. The second method, is to slip stitch the squares together. I chose the latter. It seemed the easiest. :D I'm starting with the base of the purse first. I don't know what happened here. I used the same yarn, the same knitting pattern, the same needle, and one came out so much bigger than the other. I have no idea what happened or what I did to make this happen. Maybe with one I crochet tighter than the other. That's the only thing I can think of.
The base of my purse is finished...Woooohooooo!!!!! I'm excited. This is actually going to be finished soon, and then I can start on my flapper hat. And also, then I won't have to use a Quizno's bag (It's made of fabric, but still, it's kind of pathetic. I'm glad I had washed it. That made the Quiznos' logo fade) as a purse.

Crochet: All Squared Out

I'm burned out on granny squares. Okay, maybe not burned out, but I saw this really cute hat, (here's the link) and I want to make it. But I don't want to stop this project and jump to something else. I have a really bad habit of doing that. Stopping one thing and then doing something else, and not finishing the first thing. I don't want to do that. I have got to stop that bad habit. I do that with books that I read. These crochet and knitting projects. My pile has gone down a bit, but that's another thing I have to work on. Just sticking with one thing at a time, until it's done. Sticking with working on my pile, and not going on to something else until I don't have a pile anymore. Anyway, I'm determined to finish this one project before I start another. And then after this, I have to finish this slouchy beret thing, and then finally this cute flapper/clouche hat I saw. In that order. I really have to do finish this bag first though. I'm using a Quizno's bag as a purse.....but desperate times call for desperate measures. Sometimes I have to laugh at myself. Anyway, hope everybody is having a good day!

Crochet: Granny Square Tote Bag Purse Part 2 of 6

I actually have three squares altogether now. As I have mentioned on my Twitter (instead of clicking this link you can also just look on the side of the blog) and Facebook page, I wanted to try and connect the squares as I go, instead of connecting them one at a time, but I just don't get it. Even when I watched some demonstrations on YouTube, I just didn't get it. So, unfortunately, I am just going to have to make a bunch, and then connect them when I think I have made enough squares for a tote bag.
